Cordoba is a personal library app for organizing your books, documents, notes and images. This policy explains how the app handles your information. In short: there’s no account and no server of ours, and your library stays on your device. The free version shows ads from Google AdMob; with a Cordoba Premium subscription there are no ads.
Information we collect
We, the developers of Cordoba, don’t collect, store or receive your personal information. The app has no account or sign-up, and we don’t run a server; the content you add never reaches us. We don’t add analytics or tracking of our own.
Some features use third-party services that collect data under their own terms: Google AdMob shows ads in the free version, and Google ML Kit translates on Android. Both are described below.
Where your data is stored
- The books, PDF, EPUB and TXT files, scanned documents and images you add
- Your notes, highlights, bookmarks, reading progress and settings
All of this is kept only on this device, in the app’s own storage. Your library is never shared with the ad service and is never used for ads. The app’s core features work without an internet connection.
Advertising
In the free version, Cordoba shows ads provided by Google AdMob: a banner at the bottom of some screens and, now and then, a full-screen ad after you close a book or add shelves and books. Ads never appear while you read. With a Cordoba Premium subscription, no ads are shown and the ad service isn’t started.
According to Google, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect the following data from your device and share it with Google for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention:
- IP address, which may be used to estimate the general location of the device
- Device identifiers: on Android, the advertising ID and app set ID; on iPhone and iPad, the advertising identifier only if you allow tracking, and other app- or developer-bounded device identifiers
- Advertising data, such as the ads you’ve seen, and interactions such as app launches, taps and video views
- Diagnostic and performance information, such as app launch time, hang rate, energy usage and crash logs
Your choices: in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, Google’s consent form asks for your consent before personalized ads are shown, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings › Ad privacy choices. On iPhone and iPad, personalized ads are shown only if you allow tracking when the app asks; you can change this in the device’s Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in the device settings. If you don’t consent, you may still see non-personalized ads.
How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services
Subscriptions
Cordoba Premium is an optional, auto-renewing subscription (monthly or yearly) that removes ads and the free version’s limits and unlocks premium looks. You buy and manage it with your Apple ID (App Store) or Google account (Google Play). Payment is handled by Apple or Google; we never receive your name, email address or payment details.
The app checks your subscription status with the App Store or Google Play and remembers it on your device, so it also works offline.
When the internet connection is used
The app connects to the internet only in the following cases:
- Add from link: the PDF at the address you enter is downloaded directly from that address.
- Ads (free version): the Google Mobile Ads SDK connects to Google to load and measure ads, as described under “Advertising”.
- Subscriptions: purchases, restores and subscription checks go through the App Store or Google Play.
- Translation and language detection (Android): text is translated on your device. The first time you translate in a language, that language’s pack is downloaded from Google through Google ML Kit. The text you translate isn’t sent to Google. According to Google, ML Kit may contact Google servers to receive bug fixes and updated models, and may send diagnostic data such as device information, app information and performance metrics to Google.
- Document scanning: on Android, the Google Play services document scanner is used; Google Play services is subject to Google’s own privacy policy. On iPhone and iPad, scanning is done with Apple’s on-device scanner.
- “Open in Google Translate” and links in books: when you tap them, the address opens in your device’s browser; what happens on that site is subject to that site’s policy.
Permissions
The app asks for a permission only when it needs it, and only with your consent:
- Camera: to scan documents and take cover photos.
- Photos: to add images to a shelf’s envelope or to a cover. The system photo picker is used; the app only accesses the images you select.
- Tracking (iPhone and iPad, free version): to show personalized ads. You can decline and still use every feature.
The app doesn’t ask for location, microphone, contacts or notification permissions.
Backups and sharing
Making backups and sharing your notes is entirely up to you. A ZIP backup and a shared notes archive go only to the place you choose (a folder, or the app you pick on the share screen).
If Android’s own backup feature is turned on, the operating system may back up app data to your Google account. This depends on your device settings and is handled by Google.
Deleting your data
You can delete books, notes and images at any time; deleted items wait in the trash for 30 days and are then permanently deleted. When you uninstall the app, all of its data on the device is deleted too. Since we don’t have a copy of your data, there’s nowhere else you need to ask us to delete it.
Data collected by Google for ads is handled under Google’s privacy policy. On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in the device settings.
Children
The app isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published here and the effective date will be updated. Effective date: October 13, 2026.
